A one-on-one consultation on Zoom with Jessica Ciencin Henriquez. These consultations are a space for focused, honest, and personalized feedback, and a chance for you to consolidate and build on what you learned in "Writing Essays for Magazines" with Jessica herself.

Jessica will review all student work (submitted by the deadline*) in advance of the consultation and deliver feedback verbally during the session. No written feedback will be provided. Participants are welcome to record the session on their own device if desired.

  • 25-min consultation: This option is for you if you’re looking to sharpen your pitch (300 words max), get clear on where to submit, and talk through your possible story angles and sources.

  • 50-min consultation: This is for you if you have a full essay draft (up to 1500 words) and you’re looking to sharpen your story, strengthen your pitch, and get clear on where and how to submit.

Upon signing up, you'll receive a Calendly link so you can sign up for a consultation. A range of dates and times will be offered, all them within the month of April.

Deadlines & Details

*All pitches and essay drafts need to be uploaded by April 1 for Jessica's review in advance of meeting with you; a link will be provided.

No exceptions for late work will be made. Late students will have to bring their pitch/essay to their scheduled Zoom session and ceded time during their session for the teacher to read it.

No refunds for cancelled appointments will be issued. The teacher will provide a voice memo with comprehensive feedback on student work and email it to anyone who misses their scheduled appointment.
